Dear Students, Parents and Carers,

I am really proud of all of our students for the fantastic effort they put into their Christmas concert performances on Tuesday evening. Every student who participated did such a wonderful job and gave 100% which is a true indication of the Mount Marrow spirit.

I would also like to congratulate our 2020 Student Leaders:
Imogen- School Captain
Georgia- School Vice Captain
Hetaya- Schumman Captain
Myles- Schumman Vice Captain
Cooper- Hooper Captain
Noah- Hooper Vice Captain
We know that you will all do a wonderful job next year.

2020 Extra-curricular programs
In addition to the debating program run by Mr Wilson, we are looking at starting a Mad Mathematics Monday where students who are achieving high results in years 3-6 can participate in extension mathematics activities after school. We hope to encourage our Mount Marrow students to enjoy the challenge of more complex maths and become creative problem solvers. As part of this program students will enter competitions targeted to the top 10% of mathematics students Australia wide. They will also have specific tasks that need to be completed throughout the week at home (without any support). There will be a small cost to participate in this program (50% of the competition entry fees with the other 50% being covered by the school). If you believe that your child would be a good candidate for this program, please " email me.

Next year we will have the following classes and staff-
Prep-Year 2 with Mrs Broadhead
Year 3-4 with Mr Wilson
Year 5-6 with Mrs McBain

HASS, Health and Wellbeing- Mrs Graham
The Arts- Mrs Hobden
Physical Education- Mrs Hines (Friday)
LOTE-Auslan- TBA (for all students from Prep to Year 6)

Looking Out Over Christmas
With the holidays fast approaching, we need our local communities looking out for our school. If you do see something suspicious, please don’t intervene. Call the School Watch number on 13 17 88 and let the local police or State Government Protective Security Service address the matter. We appreciate your support in looking after our wonderful little school.

We will also have members of K9 Solutions Australia using our grounds during the holidays. K9 Solutions Australia specialise in providing K9 training services to military and law enforcement organisations throughout Australia and use our grounds to expose the dogs to new environments. At various times throughout the holidays you may see dogs and their handlers undertaking a range of protection training activities.

All of our booklists have been sent home and are also available on our school website. It is important that you purchase the correct items on the booklist and send all items to school on the first day. We use all of the books for different subjects and these are all marked and sorted on day one. Students also begin working in their books on day one so it is essential that all items are at school ready for the first day.

It is also important that you label every item clearly with your child’s name. Labelling every item makes it easier to identify the owners of misplaced items and prevents another child accidently claiming the item as theirs.

Merry Christmas!
We would like to wish all families a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Kind regards,
K. Emma McBain

Prep- Year 2    Mrs Broadhead

Thank you for entrusting me with the education of your children this year. It has been a joy working with each and every one of them. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas break, and would encourage you to keep your children reading regularly over the 6 week holidays. See you all in 2020!

We would like to thank everyone for their support in 2019. Whether it’s helping with tuckshop, uniforms, breakfast club, fundraising, contributing your cans, helping on the can roster or attending a meeting, we value your input and the children are the ones who benefit greatly from all of the work the P&C does throughout the year.

We look forward to another fun-filled year in 2020 and encourage anyone who would like to share their ideas to come along to our friendly casual meetings. As always, all executive positions will be up for grabs at our Annual General Meeting, usually held in March. You can nominate someone or yourself for any of the positions.

Wishing all of our families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and lots of fun times over the school holidays.
