​Mount Marrow State School was officially opened on 4 November 1909 with an enrolment of 26 pupils, after residents of Mount Marrow and Thagoona petitioned the Department of Public Instruction to build a school in the district.

​Opening Day, 4th Nov 1909


The first school committee was formed on 26 Otober 1909. Any male who would have at least one child attending the school was elibile to be on the committee.


The first school committee: Car Berlin, Wilhelm Klupfel, Johann Holwartz, Tom O'Shea, Alexander Rea, Mrs Ford, Mr Hertweck, John Ford (Head Teacher), W. Zerner.


To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the school a book was compiled. Copies of 'The Mt. Marrow State School Centenary Book: 1909-2009 are available for reading at school and at ​the Queensland State Library​​.
